Good news for displaced students in Ukraine
It is no news that earlier in the year, Russia invaded Ukraine, leading to an all-out war that lasted months.
When the invasion happened in February, many people were affected in various ways including immigrants and citizens. Some of those immigrants were young Nigerians looking to further their studies abroad (in Ukraine).
Though some of these students have since been evacuated from the country, what was left unresolved was their chances of continuing the educational programs they initially set out to do in Ukraine, before the invasion.
The Good News: The V.N. Kharkiv National University has collaborated with the Igbinedion University, Okada to make sure that its Nigerian students that were displaced by the war can continue their education.
The collaboration will see to it that students from that Ukrainian University, displaced by the invasion, will resume classroom lectures on the Igbinedion University campus. This will happen on a joint educational program, under the Nigerian National Universities Commission Transitional Educational guidelines.
The purpose of this collaboration is directed toward the formulation of a sustainable system of educational, scientific, and cultural cooperation between the two Universities.
The two Universities will jointly be developing educational activities, expanding opportunities for access to all levels and forms of quality higher education, educational programs, and courses, based on the recommendations of UNESCO.
