Get your PVC and vote!
The 2023 elections are upon us and we can only hope the that spirits are high. While voting is a constitutional right of every Nigerian citizen, it is met with different reactions. Some see it as an opportunity to vote out bad leaders while some just cannot be bothered.
Here is how differently people react to elections in Nigeria:
1. PVC Owners On A Mission
These ones already have the candidate they will vote for in mind and they won’t relent until they have cast their vote for that candidate. They pet their precious PVCs while they wait for the big election day.
Anyone that is complaining about the reducing number of spaghetti strands falls under this category.
2. Passive Observers
While this set of people are well aware of upcoming elections, they will not move an inch from their house to exercise their right to vote.
Maybe it is fear of violence or complete disinterest, all we know is that they just can’t be bothered. Safe to assume that passive observers either have not registered or collected their PVC.
3. Passionate Advocates
These people put in the work both online and offline. They go to the grassroots and on social media to sensitize people about the election.
This category of people usually have their chosen candidate and a PVC.
4. Cruise Masters
Cruise masters make it their job to make memes out of candidates and funny videos from campaigns. As far as they are concerned, everyone is being too serious and they make it their job to lighten up the atmosphere.
5. The Menace
All what the menaces do is sow discord. They are like the Judas of the bunch. Most times, unscrupulous candidates have buttered their bread. So, they do their best to prevent a free and fair election.
While it is unfortunate this set of people exist, it is what it is.
6. The Candidates
Here comes those vying for different seats of power–be it at the local, state or federal level. The candidates can also be grouped into different categories but generally they go about campaigning about why they are the best option.
Of course, some defy the due process by giving the masses rice, souvenirs or small monetary gifts in exchange for their loyalty.
