Tobi Amusan’s Record Officially Ratified!
Nigerian hurdles sprinter Tobi Amusan has had a fantastic year so far. It got even better as World Athletics officially ratified her 100m hurdles record (12-12s) which she set at the 2022 World championships in Oregon a few months ago. She is officially the first Nigerian to hold a world record in Athletics. At least now Nigerians can tell Micheal Johnson to “suck it up”.
Tobi Amusan also holds the 100m hurdles record for the commonwealth games and the African championships respectively. In fact in her last race of the year at the diamond league in Zurich this year, she ran a blazing 12.29s to defend her title in the competition.
She was recently at the Presidential Villa to attend a dinner hosted for her by the president and she was also conferred with the title of the Officer of the order of the Niger (OON) by the president.
She recently also visited her alma mater, Our Lady Of Apostles secondary school in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state, and pictures surfaced of students giving her a guard of honor right from the school’s gate. The students of the school were absolutely thrilled to have her in their midst.
Tobi Amusan also donated a sum of one million naira to the school which is aimed at renovating certain areas of the school.
