Which players did Jose Peseiro invite?

As other countries prepare for the Mundial starting a couple of weeks from now, The Super Eagles will also be preparing for next year’s AFCON qualifiers with a friendly against Algeria next week Tuesday. 

The new manager of the Super Eagles Jose Peseiro has invited 25 players for the friendly match and some new players were also invited why some players who haven’t been in the squad for a while also made a return. 2 notable absentees from the squad list were Victor Osimhen and Joseph Aribo, both are ruled out because of injuries sustained while playing for their various clubs. Odion Ighalo was also not invited to the squad by Peseiro. 

The full list of the players invited for the friendly are

Goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho, Maduka Okoye, Adeleye Adebayo. Defenders: William Ekong, Kenneth Omeruo, Chidozie Awaziem, Olaoluwa Aina, Calvin Bassey, Zaidu Sanusi, Kevin Akpoguma, Leon Balogun. Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, Richard Onyedika. Forward: Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Ihenacho, Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, Henry Onyekuru, Taiwo Awoniyi, Chidera Ejuke, Cyriel Dessers, Terem Moffi

Captain Ahmed Musa and Villareal forward Samuel Chukwueze have both been ruled out of the friendly game because of injuries and they have both been immediately replaced by River United’s Ebube Duru and Casa Pia’s Godwin Saviour. Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndid has also been ruled out of the game because of injuries. Henry Onyekuru has been ruled out of the team also with an injury and Nottingham Forest’s  Emmanuel Dennis replaces him in the squad. 24 players have already arrived at the Super Eagles training camp ahead of the game next Tuesday. 

The Super Eagles are also billed to face the Portuguese national team in a friendly game on the 17th of November at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon. It is going to be the first ever official game between both countries in Men’s international football.
