Summer 2022 transfer window
Summer transfers in the European transfer market are still ongoing and we’ve seen more transfer deals trickle in the past few weeks. Some were unexpected and some were predictable from a mile away.
Anyway, let’s take you through some of the completed deals in the last few days.
1. Henrikh Mkhitaryan To Inter Milan
Inter Milan are obviously in for smart business this summer as they have signed 33-year-old Henrikh Mkhitaryan from As Roma on a free transfer. The Armenian didn’t renew his contract with Roma after his contract expired this summer. He won the Europa Conference league with Roma just last season also.
He played over 100 games for Roma and scored 29 goals.
2. Romelu Lukaku T0 Inter Milan
Most definitely one of the most surprising transfers of this summer, Inter Milan has signed Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea. He left Inter for Chelsea just last season and had one of the most underwhelming seasons of his career at the English club.
Inter opted to bring him back to the club on a loan deal with no option to buy.
3. Taiwo Awoniyi To Nottingham Forest
Nigerians will be particularly happy with this transfer because Awoniyi is one of our own. Nottingham Forest signed Awoniyi £17 million from the German club Union Berlin. Forest reportedly broke their transfer record fee to sign the big Nigerian striker and the reasons are not far-fetched.
Awoniyi played 65 games for Union and scored 25 goals.
4. Dean Henderson To Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest are obviously recruiting seriously ahead of the new Premier League season because they are new boys and have to make a statement. They have signed Manchester United’s backup goalkeeper Dean Henderson on a one-season loan deal with no option to buy.
The English goalkeeper also wanted to leave United because he wanted guaranteed playing time ahead of the world cup.
5. Vitinha To Paris St Germain
Paris St Germain has signed Porto midfielder Vitinha for a fee upward of £40 million. He is an exciting young talent that can control the midfield perfectly and he could do really well with French giants. PSG are laying off their former Manager Mauricio Pochettino and appointing a new one soon.
Their new transfer director Luis Campo has said their transfer direction will henceforth follow this same style: buying young talented, and exciting players.
