What is Project T-max?
Project T-Max is a Technical and Vocational Educational Training Programme set to be launched by the federal government. It’s main aim is to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by the year 2030.
The project will have seven pilot states to kick off the scheme: Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Enugu, Kaduna, Nassarawa, and Gombe. It hopes to empower at least 15,000 people across the pilot states. It kicked off in Lagos the end of August.
The Senior Special Assistant to the president on education intervention, Mr. Fela Bank-Olemoh, is the major voice championing this project. He has stated that the major vision for this project is to make at least 10 million Nigerians economically independent by 2030 by equipping them with Vocational and Technical skills. This pilot phase of the project started in August and will last till December.
Mr. Fela Bank-Olemoh also mentioned that some of the skills that will be taught are Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Tiling, Stonework, Solar Installation, Welding and Fabrication, Plumbing and Fittings, Domestic Electrical Wiring and installation, Furniture works, Beauty care, and Cosmetology, Refrigerator and AC repairs, and Automobile repairs.
Immediately after the programme, top participants in the project from every state will be given starter packs based on the top participant’s assessment rankings. This starter pack will aid the beneficiaries in their respective new fields to start off.
