School na scam?

Read the hot takes of four students that have been hit hard by the unending ASUU strike and why they suddenly don’t care anymore.

Philip*, 21

I’m not clamoring for the strike to end because I know it won’t anytime soon. See, when you have experienced ASUU strike more than twice, you will understand why I said so. One minute you’ll hear they are in a meeting and they will most likely call it off soon, the next minute you’ll hear that it’s now indefinite.

Anyway, I’ve picked up coding now. I haven’t landed a full-time job yet but I’m grateful for the little change it has fetched me so far. It gives me hope that my future is still bright.

Kingsley*, 26

It’s more like indifference for me. If the strike continues or ends, it would not do much for me. This is my second extra year in school just because of a single course. What is sad is that it’s not like I’m not reading hard enough, it’s because this lecturer has sworn to keep me in school for something I said to him in my 100l. My mates have since graduated and I am stuck here.

School is a scam and honestly, it can ‘eff’ itself, at this point.

Moji* 22

I think the ASUU strike should go on a little longer. And before anyone comes for me, I’m only speaking for myself o. I started this fashion designing course and it will still go on for three more months. If the strike ends now, I will be forced to pause it and resume during break. I’d rather do it and finish it once.

That’s my own reason sha.

Leo*, 28

As I’m talking to you now, I have a baby on the way. It was during one of these godforsaken strikes that I decided to marry my girlfriend. She’s also affected by the strike like me. And it’s not just me, a few of my course mates don dey wed too. No time jare. ASUU thinks they can play with my future like cards? For their mind.

They should continue.
