Money rituals; hoax or nah?

Has Africa Magic bamboozled us? Money rituals or blood money are widely propagated in most of their grass to grace movies. According to them as far as there’s a human sacrifice, money will rain down. And for a long time, many Nigerians (including me) have believed that money rituals work.

Recently, news of missing or brutally murdered women and girls has been on the rise; that has caused tension everywhere. Some Nigerians are concerned and wary while some others see it as a ‘gotcha’ moment at girls who choose to roll with the big boys.

It was this tension that spurred a babalawo (herbalist)–who has brought his trade online–to address the issue. He claimed killing women can never bring anyone money. That is to say; there no such thing as money rituals.

Well, Nigerians did not buy that claim one bit. Needless to say that a tug of war ensued. Here are wild reactions to babalawo’s tweets in categories.

1. The Librarians

These Nigerians informed the herbalist of the existence of money ritual. They listed different types, its origin and the basic requirements. Some even advised him to further his education on dark sorcery. Our own is why do they know so much about it? 😔

2. The Congregation

Can I get an amen? Some Nigerians were in agreement with the herbalist stating people can be gullible. According to them, how can you sacrifice a human being and money with CBN serial number will rain down.

3. Do Me I Do You

Some women did not care whether it was true or not. They wanted the world to know that their comeback would be crazier. They also informed us that players like Femi (aka womanizers) would be first to go as they only had to invite them over.

4. The Fearful

Who would not be wary about their safety? Nigerians without a stomach for wahala also camped under the babalawo tweets saying they would avoid anyone with questionable sources of income. Perhaps, they are accountants with access to everybody’s bank statements.

5. The Babalawo Himself

Following these reactions, our online Babalawo got angry at people who disagreed with him and even had the audacity to question his expertise on the matter. He stated his years of experience in the field and ended his speech asking if Nigerians were mad.

What do you think? Do you also believe African Magic over a herbalist? Tell us in the comment section. These are perilous times. And like Asa said there is fire on the mountain.

#TheGoodStuff serves up some light reading with 2 shots of humor and a dash of sarcasm. This edition zeroes in to what everyday people think about money ritualism.
