Awoof dey run belle!

Everyone looks forward to the next big break in their life. That’s a fact. Another fact (sad) is there are lots of bad people who are ready to exploit this longing.

Over time, scammers, aka con artists, have gotten smarter. They have introduced Ponzi schemes like MMM, Loom and phishing links. There is no length a scammer won’t go to rob people of their hard-earned money.

Would you like to discover ways to identify them so as not to fall victim? Read on. Palm oil will not stain our white o!

1. What They Sell Is Usually Too Good To Be True

The thing about scammers is they are banking on you being greedy and desperate. Whatever they sell always sounds too good to be true. That is why it is important to take unrealistic offers with a grain of salt.

Look at Simon Leviev, the Tinder Swindler, he sold fortune and love on a platter of gold. So also Pastor Ernest Chigozie of MMM Nigeria.

If you believe cons like those links that claim to give you 500GB of free data, kindly beware 🌚.

2. They Are Sweet Talkers

Con artists are sweet talkers and naturally persuasive. They are always trying to convince people to either make a purchase or register for something.

However, one red flag is they never discuss the risks attached to anything they sell. If  you try to talk about it, they will most likely change the subject or butter you up with more lies.

3. Con Artists Invest A Lot In Their Physical Appearance And Social Currency

Con artists live by this motto – “You dress how you want to be addressed.” They are well aware that they need to look the part for you to believe what they are saying. So, they invest a lot in their appearance.

Not just this, con artists are also social climbers. While we are not in any way trying to throw shade at extroverts, they do tend to be extremely outspoken and bold. Again no shades intended, extroverts! 🌚

4. They Try To Get Under Your Skin

If there was a situation when you need your face card to never decline, it is while interacting with a scammer. Once these set people figure out what makes you tick, it’s over.

They are big time emotional manipulators who will resort to just about anything to get under your skin. First, they try to connect with you emotionally then they try to provoke if the first method does not work.
