APC–Change!
The build-up to the APC presidential primaries was rather dramatic and it had a lot of twists and turns. However, as it stands, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the confirmed flagbearer of the party for next year’s election.
With that stated, let’s run you through some hilarious and surprising highlights of the whole event:
1. Rain Of ‘Step Downs’
There was a rain of step downs during the APC primaries as a good number of candidates suddenly declared that they were stepping down from the race. As many as seven different candidates stepped down and declared support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While we can’t question their decisions, it is rather suspicious that they all declared support for the same candidate. The seven candidates were Gov. Fayemi Kayode, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Ibikunle Amosun, Mrs. Ohneye Uju, Gov. Muhammed Badaru Abubakar and Sen. Borofice Ajayi.
2. Tunde Bakare’s Speech
Pastor Tunde Bakare was one of the APC candidates that refused to step down and in his words during his speech he said “I’m here to step up as the 16th president of the federal republic of Nigeria”.
He seemed very displeased with all that was going on during the primaries but made sure that a minute of silence was observed for the victims of the tragic shootings in Ondo state.
3. The Sabi DJ
In the midst of all the seriousness and political business that was going on at the event, the DJ of the event–DJ Benny–seemed to be the only one creating some form of comic relief with his timely and peculiar choice of songs at various moments.
He apparently has a great sense of humor and made sure to milk it at every given opportunity. Can someone ask DJ Benny why exactly Kizz Daniel‘s Buga was Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s entrance song.😅
4. Vice President Osinbajo’s Speech
Vice president Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was also one of the candidates that refused to step down. He gave a rather detailed speech of his intentions and plans for the nation if he emerges.
