What’s new for android users?
It is probably one of Google’s earliest android launches in recent times as the first developer preview was already available in February. The new Android 13 will only be available to google pixel users for now. The new stable update was also made available to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and so expect other mobile phone manufacturers to jump on the new train soon.
Let’s highlight some of the new things to expect from this new android OS and some of the major and minor changes from the previous one:
New Name
Most of the previous google android OS had really cool and catchy names and some were even related to edible things. I remember Android 2.3 gingerbread, Android 3.0 honeycomb, Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich, android 4.4 kit-kat, Android 5.0 Lollipop, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Android 8.0 Oreo, Android 9.0 pie.
The new code name for Android 13 will be “Android Tiramisu”. Tiramisu is an Italian dessert made up of ladyfingers dipped in coffee. Perhaps there is an in-depth relationship between android and food.
New Color Schemes And Wallpapers
The new Android 13 gives users access to new palettes when they extract colors from their wallpapers. The material you themes that were initially launched with Android 12 has now been improved upon and we could also get cinematic wallpapers but that is still speculation at this point.
Improvement On The Launcher Search
With the new Android 13, the launcher search has been updated and you can now get results from the google play store, Youtube, and google from the search bar in the launcher.
Language Settings Per-App
This is the coolest feature from the whole release as far as I’m concerned. We know that google is taking language really seriously with their latest updates both from hardware to software. The latest pixel 6 and 6 pro have some of the best live-text and live-translation features in any smartphone out there.
This new language feature for Android 13 will enable users to set different languages for different applications on their smartphones. It is a fantastic feature, especially for those that are bilingual or multilingual. Although only a few applications have integrated support for this feature, more applications are expected to follow suit.
So now you can set the language on your WhatsApp to English and the one on your Twitter to Spanish or any other language depending on your preference.
Support Uwb
UWB simply means Ultra-Wideband and it is a cool new technology that enables a whole new range of applications that produces cool features. Your phone could be turned into a tracker to find lost devices or serve as a car key in another instance.
Android 13 adds a generic hardware abstraction layer that will give all Android devices a shared foundation for how UWB works, making it easier for manufacturers and app developers to implement these futuristic features in their products.
