WAEC announces new developments
A good number of WAEC certificate holders can testify as to just how much of a hassle it is to get one’s original WAEC certificate. Well, that might change with WAEC’s new plans.
The West Africa Examination Council has announced plans to make its certificates available to candidates of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination once their results are released. Cool right?
As opposed to the former process which involved waiting before getting your certificate, it will now be available immediately after the results are out. Another development from WAEC is that digital certificates are available as of the 20th of October, 2022. The digital certificate applies to those who wrote the exam from 1999 till date.
Those that lost their certificates regardless of how they got lost don’t have to go through any rigorous process of getting them back. They can just pick up their phones, log into the WAEC website, and retrieve it from the WAEC database. Digitalization is amazing, right? This new process also reduces the possibility of it getting lost again as you don’t necessarily have to go around with the certificate hard copy. According to WAEC, when the system is finally perfected the certificate could be available on the same day results are released.
It is left to be seen how much will be charged for the digital version of the certificate but whatever the cost will be, it is better than queuing up at the WAEC office to get the certificate.
