The most important and expensive funeral of the year!
The Queen’s funeral is already the biggest and most talked about funeral in the last couple of years no offense to Obi Cubana’s Mother’s funeral but there are levels to these things.
Anyway, you know the British don’t joke with their Monarchy so the funeral processions and all the military uniforms, the casket, and everything was more than perfect but while all that was going on you might have missed some of the little events that unfolded because of the funeral.
Let’s gist you about those little events:
1. The Coach Bus Saga
A lot of dignitaries worldwide were invited to the funeral ceremony and the number of dignitaries was almost a thousand. In a bid to make sure that they don’t face any traffic issues (because all the dignitaries might want to bring their cars and all) the royal family decided to put all the dignitaries in one or two coach buses and transport them to the site of the funeral which was rather funny because putting all the world leaders in the same bus looked like an assassination plot waiting to happen.
I guess the Americans shared that sentiment and decided to request an exemption for President Joe Biden who in fact attended the event in his most revered beast automobile(one of the most secure automobiles in the world). In fact, an unconfirmed rumor was spread that it was one of the African leaders that drove the bus which was rather hilarious. Anyway just to let you know that our own fine boy vice president was also on the bus. Africans on social media didn’t buy the bus idea because they felt it was disrespectful but pictures of the leaders on the bus showed that they didn’t mind at all. Wahala no come too much!!
2. The Crowd At Westminster Hall
I guess the Queen meant different things to different people but some people might just have taken it too far. The funeral started with the members of the public paying their last respect to the Queen and there was an insane queue at Westminster Hall to see the Queen’s lying-in-state even popular footballer David Beckham, was in the queue for hours.
The most fascinating thing was that some people traveled halfway across the world to England to come and pay their last respects to the Queen. Imagine leaving Buhari’s Nigeria for the U.K because you want to pay your last respect to “mama charlie”. I know Nigerians can’t relate anyway.
3. The Arrests
At the funeral, there were at least 14,000 police officers and 1,000 soldiers to protect the crowd, dignitaries and the royal family. It was the biggest security operation in British history. Apparently some people have suffer head kink because as at 5pm in the evening 67 people had been arrested for various offences.
Some tried to jump the barrier that was set by the police, some for carrying placards with weird messages and protesting and many other offences.
4. The Fashion
Yes, we know it was a funeral but did you see the classy outfits that were on show for the event?. There is “rich people classy” and there is “royal family classy”, there are levels to these things. Although no extravagant colourful attires on show but even the gloomy black attires had so many layers of fashion and class to them.
The hats, the gowns, the suits, the jewelries and, even the decorated military uniforms were spot on.
