Jesus take the wheel–literally!

Nigerian men and women share the shege they saw while taking or giving driving lessons. May we not collect wotowoto for goodness sake 🤲🏼.

My baby’s biggest problem when driving was when she would encounter trailers. Whenever she saw a trailer approaching, she would forget all the training. How many stories can I even share?

Is it the time she let go of the steering and started chanting the blood of Jesus? Or when she parked the car and said she’s not driving again? Or the time when she panicked and broke down in tears? See, ehn! Women are something else.

My mum got a car gift on her 50th birthday. So, she naturally asked my younger brother and me to teach her. I was her teacher till she decided my voice was too harsh. So, my younger brother was asked to take over. I said no wahala and passed the baton.

I was in the backseat the day he smacked my mum on her head out of frustration. See, the silence that followed was deafening. For real, I thought my brother would spend the night in a hospital bed. It was me she finally completed her training with. To God be the glory. Amen.

I remember the first day my husband taught me how to drive. I ended up flying bike home in anger. How will you be yelling at me anyhow because I mistakenly took the car to another lane? I was still learning. Of course, my hands will not be straight yet. I continued my trekking for a few weeks before I gave up and resumed my lessons with him again 😭.

See, they already advised us during marriage counselling not to try it. But, I tried it and saw red pepper when the mechanic billed my life. Whenever I tell her to step on the brake, she will say I’m shouting too much. The things she spoiled cost me over 150k while driving school is just 30k.

I personally took her to a driving school after. You will not send us back to the village, my dear.

Felicia*, 24

My training did not last a day. My ex-boyfriend said I was not ready to learn yet. What was my offence? Just because I wanted to use one hand and asked him to take a few videos of me as I drove.

Honestly, I don’t think he truly wanted to teach me.

Akin*, 38

Teaching my wife was mostly funny. Whenever it’s time to change gear, she will start turning it like a barber’s chair or like eba. There was one time she said I should be helping her change it. Like an assistant driver for a car. When it’s not a plane?

But all that is now in the past. She dey drive yati now.
