Cristiano Ronaldo x Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan recently had an uncensored interview with football legend, Cristiano Ronaldo. The 90-minute interview was split into two; 45mins each (the pun intent though). We’ll be walking you through the highlights of the second segment (you can find the highlights of the first part here):

Welcome back to the second 45 minutes.

Ronaldo started the second segment of the uncensored interview by saying that football is now all business.

Remember how he didn’t show up for the pre-season games and all the buzz that followed?, his little girl, Bella, was down with bronchitis and he had to stay with his Family. It appears he explained this to his club but not everyone believed him.

Speaking on his Coach, Eric Ten Hang, Ronaldo remarked that the man has no empathy. Ronaldo said that when Ten Hang refused to bring him on against City out of respect, it was just an excuse, because why then did he try to bring him on 3 minutes till the end of the month go against Spurs?

He explained that United as a team isn’t moving forward due to a lack of empathy, adding that the coach doesn’t respect him, and so he in turn doesn’t respect the coach. He mentioned regretting storming out of the stadium during the Spurs match, however, he said he doesn’t regret not accepting to come to play with so little time left–pointing out that he’s not that kind of player.

Ronaldo said he feels as though some people do not want him at Manchester United and that the Glazers, United’s owners, don’t care about the club.

When asked about Neville’s reaction to his storming out of the field, Ronaldo said he really can’t blame anybody because they don’t know what goes on behind the scenes and they can’t feel what he feels.

When he was asked where his head was at the moment, he said he was only focused on the World Cup for now. According to him, a lack of motivation has been the reason for his poor form since the start of the 22/23 season.

Ronaldo was asked about the rumours during the transfer windows saying that no club wanted him, and he said it was just Press BS. In fact, a Saudi club offered him up to €350Million to kick a ball for 2 years but he turned it down because he isn’t really about the money. He wants to keep playing on the big stage.

He accepted that he is ageing but explained that in the right environment, he’d keep banging goals. When asked if he knew about the repercussions of the interview, he said, “When I don’t speak, they criticize me, now I expect even more.”

Ronaldo again mentioned that for Manchester United to make progress, their infrastructure has to change.

As the interview progressed, they talked about the World Cup, and Ronaldo said this one at Qatar would be his last. When he was asked to pick favourites, Morgan had to remind Ronaldo of England as he didn’t seem to remember.

For a brief moment, they mentioned the whole Qatar controversy (FIFA Uncovered) and Ronaldo said every player would try to focus and they’d make the World Cup a great one.

Piers called Ronaldo his GOAT and asked Ronaldo what he thinks of Messi. Ronaldo said asides from himself–of course–Messi and Zidane are the best players he’s ever seen. He added that he’s open to having Dinner with Messi sometime.

Ronaldo said he hopes Arsenal wins the league (asides from United that is). He mentioned that he’d love to retire at 40 he ended everything by saying he’d want to be a motivation to young players, and probably write a book on how to maintain longevity.

What does the tribe think?

We want to point out that Ronaldo kept hammering on motivation and the energy around him. Apparently, the energy at United is bad, but it’s okay in the Portugal team.

And while some have already bashed Ronaldo for the things he’s said against Ten Hang, if Ronaldo can deliver at the World Cup, then we may have to believe everything he said in this interview.
