Which teams will drop down to the Europa League?

All the teams in the Champions League have successfully played 4 group-stage games and there are still two more rounds of games to go. In some groups, teams have already qualified for the next stage with games to spare while other teams still have to fight for their spots in the next rounds or exit the competition prematurely.

Graham Potter and his Chelsea side got a solid 2-nil victory against AC Milan at the San Siro; that victory took Chelsea to the top of the group. The group however is still wide open and there’s still a lot to play for. Juventus were defeated by minnows Maccabi Haifa, 2 goals to nil while PSG and Benfica played out a 1-1 draw. PSG and Benfica seem to have the advantage in that group, and Juventus might drop to the Europa league. Manchester City surprisingly played a goalless draw against FC Kobenhavn. Borrusia Dortmund also played a 1-1 draw with Sevilla. City and Dortmund are in control in that group and Sevilla might just clinch the Europa spot.

Real Madrid played a 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk, while R.B Leipzig defeated Celtic by 2 goals to nil. That group is still undecided but Madrid looks like it will secure the number 1 spot. Napoli dismantled Ajax again by 4 goals to nil with our very own Victor Osimhen clinching a goal in that game. Liverpool ran riot on Rangers, they mauled them 7 goals to 1. Mohammed Salah scored the fastest Hatrick in Champions League history in that game. Napoli has qualified for the next round and Liverpool might just clinch the second-place ticket in their next game.

Porto dismantled Xabi Alonso and his Bayer Leverkusen side 3 goals to nil while A.T Madrid played out a goalless draw with high-flying Club Brugge. Brugge is the favourite to grab the number 1 spot while Atletico and Porto have to battle for the second spot.

Barcelona look destined for the Europa league for the second time in 2 seasons after they played out a 3-3 draw with Inter Milan at Camp Nou. Bayern Munich on the other hand cruised past Plzen again by 4 goals to 2. Bayern are through to the next round but Barcelona has a Herculean task to clinch the second spot by winning their next two games and hoping Inter falter in theirs.

Tottenham got a much-needed victory against Eintracht Frankfurt while Marseille also dismantled Sporting Lisbon by 2 goals to nil. Tottenham are top of that group but they are only ahead of Marseille and Lisbon by 1 point. The next couple of games in the Champions League will be very intense and interesting to watch.
