What to expect from the 2022 iPad & iPad Pro

Apple has released the 2022 iPad and iPad Pro. As usual, the new devices have a good number of new specifications and colours.

The new iPad has the same physical design as the iPad Air; the build and the camera placement at the back are the same–this is a vast change from the 9th-generation design. Another interesting new feature of the iPad is that it now has a USB-C  port which makes it easier to use your phone’s charging cable for the iPad and vice versa. With the USB-C, charging is faster and file transfer is also faster.

The new iPad comes in 4 colours; blue, pink, silver, and yellow. It has the A14 bionic chip for faster and better performance and it also has a new 12MP ultrawide camera with an improved aperture. The front-facing camera has been significantly improved and it is now in landscape mode. This way it is so much easier to make video calls especially if the iPad is attached to the magic keyboard.

The 2022 iPad now also has Wi-Fi 6 which has a speed of 1.2Gbps. The bezels on the 2022 iPad are way thicker and the device itself is 7mm thick. It has Bluetooth 5.2 which is a massive upgrade from Bluetooth 4.2 of the 9th generation. The price of this new iPad starts from $499.

On the other hand, the new iPad Pro comes with a 12MP wide camera and a 10MP ultrawide camera, you can now shoot ProRes on it. The iPad Pro also comes with the M2 chip which means faster CPU performance by 15 per cent, faster GPU performance by 35 percent, and, 50 percent more memory bandwidth.

Another interesting thing coming to the new iPad Pro is the DaVinci Resolve–it is a professional video editing suite and it will be available on the iPad Pro 2022 and enhanced by the M2 chip. Video editors might just fancy owning this device after all. If you’re a 3D rendering artiste then you should equally be excited because Octane X is going to be available on this device.

The most impressive feature of the 2022 iPad Pro has to be the pen hover feature. It is a software feature that is only available for the M2 iPads. With this feature you don’t have to put the pen on the screen of the device before it can detect what you’re trying to do or achieve. As opposed to the Wi-Fi 6 on the iPad, the Pro comes with a Wi-Fi 6E which is faster. It also comes with Bluetooth 5.3 which enables device switching and lower power consumption.

The iPad pro comes in 2 sizes 11inch model and a 12.9-inch model. The 11-inch model’s price starts at 799 while the price for the 12.9-inch starts at $1099 dollars.
