Who moved where?
One of the fun things to look out for during summer transfer window in European football apart from the players is the money involved. As well the rush and hustle of the transfer deadline day.
The most unbelievable moves are made on the last day of the transfer window. A good number of clubs will be scrambling for the remaining players on the market while trying to beat the 12am deadline.
This summer’s transfer deadline day was not short of that excitement as we saw some very shocking moves. We will run you through some of them:
1. Aubameyang To Chelsea
Football fans will agree with me when I say this picture looks really weird. A few months ago this man was playing for London rivals, Arsenal, just a couple of miles away at the Emirates. Now he has signed for Chelsea. The crazy part is that he signed for Barcelona in January and since they got a bigger striker–Robert Lewandoski–they decided to let him leave after a short period.
Anyway he is the new striker at Chelsea barring the time Romelu Lukaku comes back from his Inter Milan loan.
2. Dennis Zakaria To Chelsea
Chelsea are the kings of late business this summer as they snapped up another player on transfer deadline day. Dennis Zakaria is a Swiss international that signed for Juventus in January also and since then he has been in and out of the Juventus squad through injuries and form.
Anyhow, Chelsea have decide to take a chance on him for the new few months as they’ve signed him on a season-long loan.
3. Hector Bellerin To Barcelona
A total dream move for the Spaniard who passed through the Barcelona academy when he was a young boy. He was previously on loan to Real Betis for almost 2 seasons. When his loan move was over, he went back to Arsenal and they decided to terminate his contract this summer.
He is joining Barcelona as a free agent.
4. Manuel Akanji To Manchester City
Another smart signing for the league champions and Pep Guardiola. They had a slight injury crises with Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake and decided to go into the market to get another Central back. Manuel Akanji was signed from Borussia Dortmund for 15million.
I know you’re wondering why he has a Nigerian name, it is because he was born to a Nigerian father and a Swiss mother.
5. Arthur Melo To Liverpool FC
He was signed on loan by Liverpool from Juventus. Liverpool’s injury crises meant that they needed to act in the market and get a replacement for the injured Henderson and Thiago.
We’ll watch and see if Arthur was worth the deadline day risk.
