‘Women driving women’
Uber and Bolt are just a couple of the ride-hailing platforms there are out there. While Nigerians and the rest of the world can attest to the fact that these platforms have made mobility easier, we can’t deny the fact that safety continues to be a concern for most passengers–particularly female passengers.
There have been so many reports of robbery and abuse (both physical and sexual) by to female passengers by male drivers. This is one of the reasons why HerRyde was founded.
HerRyde is a new ride-hailing platform that just launched in Abuja. The one thing about it that makes it different from all the other ride-hailing platforms is that HerRyde will have only female drivers on their platform and their services will be rendered to only female customers also. This is as opposed to the other platforms having mostly male drivers. Cool right?
This will not just create a safer option for women trying to use ride-hailing services but will also create more job opportunities for female drivers. Killing two birds with one stone, smart solution! Just like some of the major and popular ride-hailing platforms, HerRyde’s prices will be determined by distance and time.
HerRyde is actually the first Nigerian ride-hailing platform built for just women. This might just be the start of a “Womencentric” movement, where we have more services that are women-centered .
#GeekWorld is a segment for nerdy discussions and regular tech updates. In this edition, we are looking at a newly launched ride-hailing platform for women only.
