A mini dating course!

To put it lightly; dating is tough. If you are currently dating or plan to dive into the dating scene then this article is for you.

Five years ago, a lot us had never heard of terms like gaslighting or love-bombing, but today these are terms that everyone uses, albeit even carelessly.

Here are 13 dating terms you should know in 2022:

1. Gaslighting

The term “ gaslighting” was coined from a 1944 movie, Gaslight, where the husband tried to mess with his wife’s mind, making her doubt her sanity while he stole from her.

In relationships, gaslighting is when one partner says what they feel and the other misleads them into thinking that it is not real.

2. Benching

You are benching a person when you keep them on the sideline because you are not ready for a relationship or you don’t like them enough to date.

3. Ghosting

When a partner wakes up one morning and goes radio silent without explanation or preparation, it is called ghosting.

They may or may not come back, either way, breakfast is served.

4. Caking

Obasanjo’s internet allows  SLT remorse intentionally or unintentionally when in fact you have no intentions to act on any of them.

5. Catfishing

When a person pretends to be who they aren’t,  online, they are catfishing you. Something like Tinder Swindler.

6. Cushioning

Sometimes you have someone who means the world to you but you can’t tell whether you are their world too or just a junction, you have other romantic prospects- just in case. You cushion yourself.

7. Breadcrumbing

One partner measures out love like Garri and leaves their partner wanting more. They give just enough love, time, and energy to mess with your mind. Very toxic????.

8. Love Bombing

In love bombing, a partner showers the other partner with so many gifts, attention, and energy to sway( I don’t want to use manipulate before you drag me????) you into loving them by force by fire.

It may graduate into isolation, with lots of guilting and sacrifice.

9. Hoovering

Exes that don’t want to let go try to suck you back into the sunken ship by hoovering and blocking the road for potential suitors.

Tell me you are a demon without saying you are a demon.

10. Double standards

Expecting your age mate to have achieved some things when you haven’t is called double standards.

11. Mirroring

How many times have you caught yourself laughing like your partner? Those moments you act like your partner is called mirroring in dating. Must be nice ????.

12. Stone Walling

When you catch a proud cheater or a partner who is no longer interested in the relationship, they stonewall you. No explanation. No effort to communicate. Nothing.

If we were you,  we would just hang the relationship boots jeje.

13. Smear Campaign

Smear campaigns are pioneered by pained exes who can’t just accept that you broke up with them.

So they spread lies, and rumors, and leak your nudes or your secrets to get back at you for leaving them.
