A healthy diet for the New Year.
New year, new diet? Improving your eating habits is always a good New Year’s resolution to have. As you attempt to recover from the damage you did over the holidays, we have some tips that might help.
There’s a possibility you’re making one of these 5 diet mistakes if your favorite pair of pants won’t fit, or your weight drops off only to bounce back up.
1. Skipping Breakfast
Skipping breakfast may appear to be a straightforward approach to losing weight, but it might leave you feeling hungry throughout the day. This might lead to unintentional nibbling at work and overeating at lunch, resulting in a spike in calorie intake. On the other hand, breakfasts with high-protein, high-fiber meals can help you stay fuller for longer. According to research, breakfast eaters are more likely to maintain a healthy weight.
2. Setting Unrealistic Goals
Telling yourself you’ll drop 20 pounds in the first week of dieting is usually a recipe for disaster. You may never start your diet in the first place if you know you won’t be able to stick to it. Instead of being happy that you lost 5 pounds in a week, you can be disappointed because you didn’t meet your target. Dieting success requires a reasonable aim. Consult a nutritionist if you’re not sure what your objective should be.
3. Taking Too Many Calories
When it comes to calorie tracking, many of us forget about what’s in our beverages. When you consider that some high-end coffees and alcoholic beverages have more than 500 calories, this is a huge goof. The calories in fruit juice and soda may soon pile up.
4. Drinking Insufficient Water
This is one of the easiest diet blunders to correct. Water is necessary for calorie burning. Allowing oneself to become dehydrated slows down your metabolism, resulting in slower weight loss. So, with every meal and snack, drink a glass of water.
5. Jettisoning Dairy Products
Many dieters avoid full-fat milk, cheese, and ice cream, but avoiding dairy products may be harmful. According to some studies, the body burns more fat when it gets adequate calcium and generates more fat when it doesn’t. Dairy products don’t seem to provide the same benefits as calcium pills, so dairy may have additional advantages. Choose dairy products that are fat-free or low-fat.
