Creators that had all the jazz in 2022!

Nigeria has a vibrant and diverse creative scene, with a wealth of talented artists, writers, and content creators making their mark on the global stage–OGs in the creative industry. In 2022, several Nigerian creators stood out for their exceptional work and contributions to the field.

From Dami Elebe; the baddest scriptwriter to Boy Director; TG Omori, these creators are making a significant impact on the creative and cultural landscape of Nigeria and beyond.

In this article, we will highlight seven of these standout Nigerian creators who made their mark in 2022. Don’t be ashamed to nab their SM handles.

1. Dami Elebe

Dami Elebe, the ‘it’ girl of scriptwriting( SGIT and Rumour Has It were all her) got appointed as the lead writer for Netflix’s and Inkblot’s Far From Home–as far as making one’s mark go, this one is high up on the list.

Just in case you forgot: Far From Home is Nigeria’s first young adult series ever. Like ever.

2. Sabinus

Oga Sabinus (real name Emmanuel Chukwuemeka) with his oversized blazers, blue shirt, and black Adidas shoes is another creator that came correct in 2022.

With consistency to the tee, he reaped the rewards in bounds and leaps. Best online creator of the year, hello?

3. Layi Wasabi

Layi had us hook, line and sinker from that first video of him mimicking JAMB officials. His mannerisms, punchlines, and relatable content are such that they made him a household name in no time.

Layi is Layi wasabi on Twitter and Instagram

4. Ayra Starr

Celestial Being made it known in 2022 that she is not just a flash in the frying pan–and we definitely got the memo.

Ayra held the No 1. on the charts since Bloody Samaritan in 2021, kept the seat vacant for herself in absentia, and came back to it stronger with Rush in 2022. It is giving King Nebuchadnezzar without the ment.

5. Asake

Asake made his mark in 2022 and that’s not only because he and Olamide converted No 1. into Asake’s living room. More like he was on a personal vendetta against his audience–good lyrics, break-waist beats, street vibes, and no breathing space. Asake went really hard.

I perceive dropping his handle as a waste of space but anything for you.

6. TG Omori

Boy director and self-acclaimed “most booked director in Nigeria” may have been in the directing biz for a long time, but in 2022, he managed to get all of us thinking “every music video needs the TG Omori touch”.

Nothing much to see on his IG page though, but I promise you, you will know it’s TG Omori when you see it.

7. Frank iTom

The quote said to reach for the stars but Frank Itom, Iamitom, took things up several notches and decided to dance with the stars instead.

His video content features him dancing with celebrities in creative videos that are marked with mind-blowing transitions.
