Ademola Adeleke has taken the oath of office!
Senator Ademola Adeleke and his deputy Kola Adewusi are now officially Osun state’s governor and deputy governor. They were both sworn in on Sunday, 27th of November 2022, with many dignitaries in attendance.
Some of the notable personalities present at the main bowl of Osogbo City Stadium to grace the event were the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate and his running mate; Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa respectively, the Edo State Governor; Godwin Obaseki and Akwa Ibom State Governor; Emmanuel Udom.
Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State and Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State were also in attendance. Former Ekiti State Governor; Ayo Fayose, and Ooni of Ife; Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi were present too.
The Wife of the PDP presidential candidate, Titi Atiku, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, and former Oyo governor; Chief Rashidi Ladoja graced the event too.
Governor Adeleke in his inauguration speech mentioned that he expects all political parties to unite in the best interest of the state because the elections are over and now is the time for governance. He also stated that his administration is open to fresh ideas in line with their manifesto.
Governor Adeleke has only been in office for a few days and he has already started making necessary changes. He has already made an immediate reversal to the constitutionally recognized name of the state. In his tenure, all government insignia, correspondences, and signages will reflect “Osun State” rather than “State of Osun”
He has also set up an immediate panel to review all appointments and major decisions of the past administration. He has also ordered the Immediate freezing of all government accounts in banks and other financial institutions and also an immediate establishment of a panel to carry out an inventory and recover all government assets.
He has also stated that to diversify the Osun economy, his administration will target the tourism sector to boost our GDP and create new jobs.
