The Rest in Peace Department!
R.I.P.D 2: Rise Of The Damned is not a sequel to the first part, R.I.P.D. The two movies have completely different characters and even a different setting. Part one, which was released in 2013, had a modern city scene, and this second part released in 2022 was cowboy-themed–making it almost seem like a throwback version of the first movie.
The movie wasn’t entirely bad, but it wasn’t even half as good as the first one that had a then upcoming Ryan Reynolds in it.
It has the same storyline; a person died leaving a loved one behind, but then joins the R.I.P.D. and is back on earth, but in a different body and so on…
The only real difference in the story this time was that a demon–a part of the trio in charge of hell–actually came up to earth himself, to raise the damned. It’s a watchable movie and we must commend that constant switch of character from the man and woman to the two black women, it was very smooth.
However, the loopholes in the movie were so many that we honestly don’t even want to talk about them.
In case you’re wondering if the movie is worth your time, all we can say is; if you have better things to do, we’d advise you do them. Otherwise, if you have lots of free time, knock yourself out.
Tribe Rating: We’ll give it a 3.5/10
