Fake friends be gone!
Now that the Tribe has handed you tips on recognizing fake friends, it’s time to talk about how to deal with them. In the previous piece, we mention how running away is the ultimate way of dealing with fake friends.
However, depending on the amount of damage a fake friend causes (has caused) you, running away from them might not always be the best solution.
With that in mind, here are five other ways you should deal with fake friends:
1. Lessen Contact
Not every fake friend deserves the mercy of ghosting. Leave them in limbo; let them shrink from uncertainty and lack of attention. They asked for it so have no pity.
2. Be Selfish
It’s time to plug all the leaking holes and that goes for your purse, your advice, and your mouth (no offence). Two can always play the game.
3. Pepper Them With The Genuine Ones
When you find the real ones–the total opposite of the fake ones–use every minute of their existence to pepper the fakes.
Be extra if need be in carrying these genuine people on your head. Petty? Yes, please.
4. Return The Fakeness Too
Some people think they are the only ones that can go low, shock them by going subterranean. When they start with their fakeness, mirror all their actions and expressions back to them.
This subtly tells them that you know their game and are on to them.
5. Point Out The Fake Things They Do
As I said, it all depends on how much damage they caused or are causing. If you are into things like that, some mess-ups can still be fixed by dialogue.
Sit them down and have a tête-à-tête on how their fakeness hurts you. Who knows? They might feel remorseful and stop but if they don’t, feel free to refer to the four tips before this.
