Traders you’ll find in every Nigerian market

Whether its Balogun market, Yaba market or Onitsha main market, you’ll agree with us that Nigerian markets are jungles. They are always bustling with life; traders and buyers everywhere.

We’ve put together a list of the different types of traders you’re bound to find in every market. Which of these can ytou relate to the most?

1. The Trader That Is Never In Their Shop

You will never meet them at their shop. It is usually a kind trader nearby that will send someone to go and call them for you. Our question is why tell everyone you have gone to make your daily bread when it’s gossip instead?

Certainly, you are not ready to leave trenches just yet.

2. The Taste And Buy Trader

Their best attempt at getting you to buy their goods is by encouraging you to taste it.

Be it garri or rat poison, sha taste and buy.

3. The Trader That Is Unnecessarily Rude

If you bargain way too much for their liking, they will release a diss track for you on the spot. No time. They obviously did not attend customer service classes.

4. The Touchy Touchy Trader

No respect for personal space. These traders will literally stain your white. If you were thinking of wearing angelic white to Balogun market this weekend, kindly have a rethink!

Spoiler: Nobody likes the touchy touchy vendor.

5. The Sociable Trader

They are friendly with everybody–traders and buyers inclusive. They know everybody and everybody knows them.

Everyone is the ‘customer’, ‘love’ or ‘baby’.

6. The Unbothered Trader

These vendors casually sit at their shops. They don’t care if they make zero sale. If their price is more than your budget, they will make zero attempt to convince you to buy.

Na wa!

7. The Pro Salesperson

These ones are serious with business. If you mistakenly check their market like this, best believe you will not leave without buying something. They convince you about their items even if it is not the exact thing you want.

Once they suspect their strategy is not working, they get someone else to cap on their behalf.

8. The Jara Trader

The jara traders are everyone’s favorite. They treat their customers well with something extra on each purchase.

Their reward is not with us though, it’s in heaven?
