Who’s the boss?

A couple of things can coexist. You can enjoy your pay but hate the job.  Or love your job and hate your boss. Most people that opt for self-employment do so because working for someone else can be a gamble. They could either be a delight or a nightmare to work with.

Well, not everyone is cut out to be self-employed and that’s okay. Meet the seven types of bosses you are likely to encounter during the course of your career:

1. The Nitpicker

Nothing you do is ever good enough. They critique your work in such an awful manner that you might end up second-guessing yourself.

2. The Olodo Boss

This type of boss will leave you wondering how they even managed to become the boss in the first place. Why? Because they know nothing.

Jon Snow. Literally.

3. The Controller

The official role is to manage the company but unofficially? They are just there to assign roles and do nothing else. Their greatest hobby is to order everybody around.

Must be nice to be an oga.

4. Mr Know-it-all

Their instructions are final, and your suggestions are unsolicited and useless by default. The know-it-all bosses expect you to do exactly what you are told.

And when it fails? They will turn around and blame every other person but themselves.

5. The Credit Stealer

Na one person work, na another person dey collect the award. While they can never lift a finger to do the work, they have no qualms in taking all the credit!

Zero conscience, tueh!

6. The Horrible Boss

They make you work overtime for free. Even outside the office. You’re lucky if your boss has never told you to come and do menial tasks at their home. You know what the Lord has done for you.

And at the end of the day, they will intentionally ask if you received your salary so you can express gratitude. They say tough times never last but what do you do when the tough time itself is your boss?

7. The Zero Stress Zone Boss

While they expect you to get the job done, they are also aware that unforeseen circumstances can slow your productivity. They are big on their employees having a positive environment to work in. They won’t stress you either when you want to take your leave.

Rare but they exist.
