Our favourite child actors are all grown up

On our radar, today are seven Nollywood child actors from the ‘90s and early 2000s. What have they been up to since they last graced our screens as kids? Where are they now?

Come along as we channel our inner Nigerian aunts to document their before and after.

1. Samuel Olaseinde

Remember Papa Ajasco of Pa James? Samuel Olaseinde is his son. Samuel started acting at age 5 in Arowolo, a Yoruba movie of the 200os that got him the award for the International best kid actor.

He proceeded to appear in Ige Adubi and Ewe Koko–both popular movies of the early 2000s. Samuel is now an intellectual property lawyer and is actively pursuing his passion for acting.

2. Regina Daniels

Regina started acting as a child in 2007 in a tragedy movie called Miracle Child, then in Dumebi in School as Onyeure, the kwe kwe friend who stole her friend’s speech.

Presently, Regina Daniels is an established actor and film producer and is married to billionaire Ned Nwoko.

3. Denrele Edun

Uncle Denrele started out as a TV presenter on NTA Network’s Kiddivision 101 (back when NTA still had better things to cover than dry farmlands and irrigation systems) at the age of 11.

Denrele Edun is what the Tribe can only describe as a force in the entertainment industry. He has hosted top shows, won sixteen awards, and 30 nominations, appeared in star-studded movies like Make a Move and has had exclusives with the likes of Beyonce, Akon, and Snoop Dogg.

4. Williams Uchemba

Williams’ first movie was in the year 2000, where he starred alongside Pete Edochie in The Journey Of The Dead.

He is not only established in acting now but is also a big philanthropist, a UN ambassador appointee, and an African Youth Rep to the UN.

5. Sharon Ezeamaka

If you watched the Shuga TV series, there’s no way you would have missed the stubborn younger sister who got sent home after visiting her elder sister in school without consent. That coconut head’s younger sister is Sharon Ezeamaka.

Sharon’s first screen appearance was in a ‘90s tv series Narrow escape but she only became well known for her role in Dear Mother.

Sharon is now a badass actress, staunch feminist, and a heck of a TV personality.

6. Destiny Etiko

Destiny Etiko, who has now featured in over 70 movies, first starred in Twin Brothers alongside the legendary Sam Loko, Osita Iheme, and Hanks Anuku. However, she only came into the spotlight after her riveting performance in Idemili.

The Amazon has secured awards like the most promising actress in the 2016 City People Awards and is still very much into acting.

7. Chinenye Nnebe

An apple doesn’t fall far from its tree and this adage rings true for Chinenye Nnebe. While we may not have known her parents to act, her mum, Nancy Uche, was a Nollywood costumer and movie producer.

Chinenye started acting at the age of three but came into the limelight in the year 2000 because of her role in Dry as a younger Zara. Chinenye is now an established actor, model, and clothing entrepreneur.
