Slave masters ahead!

If we are going to have to work to make money, then we might as well do it where there is little or no toxicity. Most jobs look like the real deal in the beginning, so how do you tell them apart?

Here is how you can find out; as you prepare to ace that job interview, don’t forget to pay to look out for these interview red flags:

1. Promise of Promotions

For the life of me, I can’t figure out how this is supposed to be a clickbait but big ups to them for trying. Unfortunately for them, a bird in hand is worth more than two in the bush.

Any projected salary that is not reflected in my bank account is as good as none. Yours sincerely.

2. A Badly Spoken Interviewer

If their hiring manager(s) are badly spoken, it says something about their standards which also means that they will never appreciate yours.

We do not intend to cast stones here but what’s H-factor doing in the recruiting manager’s “tongue”?

3. You Are Getting Weird Vibes

Weird vibes are just weird you know, and whenever you are getting them from a potential work environment, it is your ancestors telling you to bounce.

Don’t ignore your gut feeling or think you are making stuff up. More times than not, you were right all along.

4. The Offer Is Below Your Rate

It’s standard practice to always know what the market value is for your skills because the audacity of some employers is very alarming.

Once they start moving funny around your pay, slam them with rejection mail, osiso.

4. They Don’t Recommend Vacations

No surprise there because our country rarely normalizes good things. Vacations should very much be part of your work package! If the interviewer doesn’t mention it, ask them yourself, and depending on their opinion on having a resting time, you know whether to stay or get out of Dodge.

5. They Promote Themselves As Family

Say after me: Lies upon lies! Again? Lies upon lies. “Family” is a front most employers keep to fool you into believing too much of yourself and while this flag may not be as red as the others,  it’s still a warning to not lose guard.

One misstep like this, o ti lor!

6. They Say “We Work Hard And Play Hard”

This statement right here is a plot to get you to sign away your sanity. Office hangout after draining your soul, nice try but no!

7. They Hint At Doing Things Outside Your Job Description

We all know that things don’t always go down in the office as stated in your offer letter but some employers have effrontery in a way you’d never imagine still exists.

If they start hinting at a work pile outside your job description in the interview…bye Felicia.
