Get that second date mate!

If there’s anything harder than asking a girl (or guy) you like out on a date, it is actually making a good impression during that first date and winning a second date.

Well, not to worry, SabiTribe’s got you.

Here are five things you should NOT do on your first date:

1. Don’t be late

Show up for your date on time. If you both agreed to meet at the mall by 7pm; let your 7pm be 7pm. There’s nothing more off-putting than having to wait hours on end for a date to show up. And No, you can’t blame it on Lagos traffic.

Be intentional about not being late.

2. Don’t constantly be on your phone

Cell phone addiction is actually a thing. This explains why the only time some people aren’t using their phones is when they’re sleeping. LOL.

If you’re one of such people, and you’re going on a date with someone’s son or daughter you may want to exercise some self control. You don’t want your date competing with your phone for attention, do you?

For the duration of your date, put your phone on silent, in your bag, pocket or table (if there’s any). Then converse with your date. Listen. Connect. And thank us later.

3. Don’t talk too much

Remember this: It’s not about you. You’re not the moderator or MC (Master of Ceremony) of the date so keep the banter in moderation (pun intended, LOL).

There’s a difference between being a great conversationalist and being a dreadful talkative. Try not to bore your date with ‘plenty talk’ especially when they seem not to be enjoying or following the gist. Most especially, don’t be a conversation hogger, always give your date a chance to speak.

4. Don’t bring bad vibes

In this present day and age, every ‘woke’ person is concerned about protecting their energy and avoiding bad vibes by all means–Skepta and Big Wiz sang it better!

If you’re going on a date try not to be fussy or demanding. Don’t complain too much even though there maybe a lot to grumble about; the food, the waiter, Nigeria, life, everything. Don’t do it. Please.

Also remember to leave all traces of the moodiness at home *wink*.

5. Don’t be touchy

Keep your hands to yourself! A lot of people (women especially) would describe going on a date with someone who has wandering hands to be a big No-No. Touch on the first date should be limited and should definitely not be sexual.

Remember to be a gentleman (lady). Resist the urge to grope your date no matter how hot they are.
