Netflix And Chill!

Netflix in Nigeria has made it a culture to release most of the Nollywood movies streaming on its platform during weekends, mostly Fridays. We guess that they understand that weekends are a moment Nigerians look forward to as a moment to relieve themselves of the stress of the week and binge on their favourite movie titles streaming on the platform.

 We decided to keep you updated on the Nollywood movies streaming on the platform in the next series of weekends.;

 

1. Dinner At My Place

The movie tells the story of a young man Timini Egbuson who plans to propose to his girlfriend (played by Sophie Alakija) with a 22-thousand-dollar ring. The story takes a turn when his crazy ex (Bisola Aiyeola) shows up and the ring ends up in her stomach. 

The movie is set to stream on Netflix by 11th November. The romantic comedy also stars Charles Etubiebi, Uche Montana And Debby Felix and it is a long-form adaptation of a previous short film bearing the same name.

 

 

2. The Griot

The Griot is an African folklore set in a beautiful small town called Wasinmi in Abeokuta, Ogun state. The movie tells the story of Lakunle, a young man who desires the love of Tiwa, the fairest girl in the land. He asks his friend Sanmi to assist him in getting Tiwa’s attention but Sanmi in his characteristic selfishness betrays his friend as he tries to get Tiwa for himself. 

The movie is rooted in Africanism, music and folklore and will start streaming on Netflix by the 18th of November. The cast members include; Lateef Adedimeji, Temiloluwa Fosudo, Kunle Afod, Funsho Adeolu, Yewande Adekoya, Goodness Emmanuel, Officer Woos and more.

 

 

3. U-Turn

U-Turn is Gabriel Afolayan’s first step in transitioning from an actor into a writer, producer and director. Shot in 4 different states, the social comedy is a two-character-based story which tells the story of a driver and his lone passenger as they embark on a long journey while hiding their true intentions from one another.

Starring Gabriel Afolayan and Olaiya Igwe, the movie promises to highlight the societal ills of fast money chasing. The movie is set to premiere on Netflix on 2nd December.

 

 

4. Far From Home

Far From Home is set to be Netflix’s first Nigerian young adult series produced in partnership with Inkblot Productions. The movie is a 5-part series that tells the story of a charismatic teenager and talented artist from a poor family whose dreams suddenly appear within reach when a prestigious scholarship to the most exclusive school in the country catapults him into the affluent world of Nigeria’s elite. All the while, a huge secret threatens his newfound status and ultimately his family’s safety.

The movie has a fine ensemble cast which includes; Funke Akindele, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Mike Folarin, Genoveva Umeh, Bolanle Ninalowo, Bucci Franklin, Bimbo Akintola, Linda Ejiofor, Chioma Akpotha, Femi Branch, Carol King, Ufoma McDermott, Olumide Oworu and more.

The series is set to premiere on Netflix on 16th December.
