And we don’t want your shalaye.

1. Snake Meat

The same opp that got us chased out of the Garden of Eden? That aside, how are you able to not think about all the slithering as you eat? Chile!

2. Dog Meat

This is not even a Calabar thing because news reaching us is that our brothers and sisters in Ondo and Ogun also enjoy eating man’s best friend.

“Dog meat pepper soup anyone?”

3. Monkey Meat

Where to start? You dare to an animal that shares a 98% DNA with us? Is it sapa or just some certain sense of exploration?

As if we didn’t learn anything from Ebola and Covid.

4. Bat Meat

So, the birds that walk among us are no longer enough. We’ve migrated to the ones that fly in the night only. What’s the game plan? To transform into Nigeria’s Batman, right?

5. Maggots

Bayelsans and Deltans, please fall out and plead your case. Maggots?

6. Cat Meat

Even having it in the house breeds evil forces, why are we putting it inside our body system? African mothers will not like this.

7. Frog Meat

In fact, frogs are commercially sold in certain parts of the country. Asides from deep frying, people use frog meat to make pots of stew/soup.

8. Roaches

History turned a blind eye when Nigerians said winged termites–popularly known as Esunsun–were the next best thing to eat. Even bees.

But, why are you people also adding cockroaches to the list? Stop it!

9. Lizards

The monitor lizard. I thought we left eating reptiles to Asians. Seems we were not all thinking alike.

10. Pork/Pig Meat

Last but not the least, pigs. Yes, it has been normalized but still weird. Why are eating animals that spend all day in mud? Comment Oink if this is you.
