Guinness Book of Records is a reference book publishing list of human achievements and extremes in the natural world. Since its inception in 1955, it is published annually with a regular update of its records. It is now in its 67th year of publication maintaining over 53,000records in its database and published in 100 countries and 23 languages.

1. Largest Collection of Shoes

The late Darlene Flynn holds the world record for the world’s largest collection of shoe-related items with a verified collection of 16,400 pairs of shoes.

She amassed 15,665 pairs in 12 years after starting her collection in 2000.

2. Fastest Reader

Howard Berg is considered the fastest reader in the world. He bagged the right in 1990 when he read over 25,000 words and 80 pages per minute. 

 

 

3. Longest Pizza

The pizza was made using approximately 17,700 lbs of dough, 5,000 lbs of tomato sauce and 3,900 lbs of mozzarella cheese by a team of over 100 people in Texas for about 54 hours (40 hours of prep time, plus 14 hours for the multiple rounds of baking).

All the leftover pizza was donated to several local area charities.

4. Largest Hairy Family

Jesús “Chuy” Fajardo Aceves and Luisa Lilia De Lira Aceves of a family in Mexico are two members of a family of 19, spanning five generations, who all have congenital generalized hypertrichosis, a rare condition characterized by excessive facial and torso hair.

The women are covered with a light-to-medium coat of hair while the men have thick hair on approximately 98% of their body, apart from their palms and soles.

6. Longest Hairstyle

The luxurious locks of Xie Qiuping of China achieved the longest hair on a female with luxurious locks of a length of 5.62 m (18 ft 5 in). As verified on 8 May 2004, she started growing her hair in 1973, when she was just 13 years old.

Her hair is almost the same height as an adult male giraffe.

 

 

7. Tallest Hat

Odilon is a milliner in the USA (hat-maker) who holds the world record for the world’s tallest hat measuring 4.8m (15 feet; 9 inches). For his record to be valid, he was required to walk over 10 m (32 ft 10 in) while wearing it.

8. Longest Time Without Sleep

The official world record for staying awake is 264.40 hours (11 days 25 minutes), held by Randy Gardner in 1964. In Jan 1964, 17-year-old Randy Gardner set the world record for going without sleep for 11 days and 25 minutes.

The Guinness Book of World Records has vehemently refused to validate any attempt for the longest time spent awake believing that it is dangerous to human health.

9. Longest Fart

A world record holder is a man named Bernard Clemmens of London. This man managed to let off one continuous fart for exactly 2 minutes and 42 seconds, a feat that has yet to be even close to replicated by other fart enthusiasts.

 

 

10. Longest Nails

Lee Redmond from America holds this record by using nearly 30 years to grow her nails out. She started growing her nails way back in 1979 till 2008 when she laid the record.

Her nails are 28 feet and 4 inches long in total.
