Name that brand!

Are you sure you’ve been referring to these popular household items by their correct names?

Today, we will be highlighting ten brands that have been so successful that Nigerians now use them in place of the genetic item names.

Check them out below:

1. Maggi

I’m no prophet but the spirit is telling them that you refer to seasoning cubes as Maggi. It is a brand name, just like Knorr, Onga and others.

2. Indomie

Noodles have been generalised as Indomie. We are sure their competitions like Chiki Chiki, and Golden penny throw cringe every time refer to them as Indomie.

3. Pampers

It’s a Diaper o! Pampers is just another brand name, like Huggies, made for babies.

4. Gala

Signify if you have always known this snack as a beef roll. No hands?

5. Titus

It’s (canned) sardine, not Titus. Also, not to be mistaken for Titus fish.

6. Super Glue

Don’t be surprised. Super glue is just the name of a successful brand that produces adhesives. But considering that the real name of the item is Cyanoacrylate, please continue calling it Super Glue.

7. Omo

Now this is not omo!–our usual slang for expressing Buhari shock. We are talking about Omo, a brand name for detergent.

8. Bagco

Bagco is just a trademarked name, bro. The item itself is a sack.

9. Robb

Robb is a methylated balm we use for pain and cold relief.

10. MacLeans

If you refer to toothpaste as Maclean, you are either one of these two things.

Either you are an old soul living in a young body or you are indeed old. Long may your days be on earth?♀️
